Pada banyak kasus di base station, kita butuh estimasi dari jangkauan / coverage dalam sebuah sell. Hal ini relatif mudah di hitung menggunakan rumus yang ada di http://www.terabeam.com/support/calculations/downtilt-cover.php . Persamaan yang digunakan relatif sederhana, yaitu,
Jarak Radius Inner = ( H / Tan ( A + BW/2) ) / 5280 Jarak Radius Outer = ( H / Tan ( A – BW/2) ) / 5280
Dimana
H - tinggi dari antenna di base station. A - sudut tilt dari antenna dalam radius. BW - lebar beam dari antenna dalam radius.
Biasanya beam width cukup sempit sekitar 10-15 derajat tergantung dari penguatan antenna.
Untuk memberikan gambaran, sebuah antenna Access Point pada ketinggian 30 meter, dengan beam width 10 derajat yang di tilt 0.2 derajat. Kita akan melihat jari-jari dalam sekitar 150 meter, dan jari-jari luar sekitar 8.7 km. Jadi paling jangkauan sekitar 8.5 km.
