Di public release dari GPRS, mesin yang menjalankan OpenBTS berfungsi sebagai router untuk handset network request. Aturan iptables untuk keperluan ini terletak di OPENBTS_TRUNK/apps/iptable.rules. Pertama-tama, script harus di ubah untuk network interface target yang akan melayani traffic keluar. Misalnya,interface yang tersambung ke Internet adalah wlan0 maka kita ubah menjadi
