OpenBTS menggunakan USRP mempunyai daya yang sangat kecil sekitar 100-200mW saja. Ini hanya bisa menjangkau satu ruangan saja.
Untuk mengcover jarak yang lebih jauh kita perlu menambahkan
- Amplifier 900MHz atau 1800MHz tergantung frekuensi operasi.
- Duplexer - agar TX & RX bisa sharing satu antenna.
- Antenna yang besar.
