Android Custom ROM Missing “Add Google Account” Option up vote 0 down vote favorite

In the customized Android system, all pre-installed google apps are missing and it's not allowed to add google account. I downloaded the Gapps from http://goo.im/gapps, but I cannot install the apps due to signature issue

Is there other possible way to retrieve the "add google account" option back?

Thanks

Update:

I wasn't aware that I need to push the Gapps into /system/app to avoid signature problem. When I did, it works! custom-rom google-account shareimprove this question

That's pretty normal for (almost) all Custom ROMs: They are not permitted to include Google Apps. GApps are proprietary, and to ship them bundled with anything requires an explicit license from Google.

However, Custom ROMs come rooted usually. and also usually, you (at least in most cases) have a custom recovery when installing them. So if you feel you need a way, you've got two choices primarily:

pick the GApps package corresponding to your Android version from Goo.im, and flash them via your custom recovery, or
head over to XDA and check for the NOGAPPS packages if you prefer an open-source replacement

Google Apps are the proprietary Google-branded applications that come pre-installed with most Android devices, such as the Play Store, Gmail, Maps, etc. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod and must be installed separately. The Google Apps are not required to boot or run CyanogenMod, however many users find them beneficial to take full advantage of the Android ecosystem.

These Apps have been packaged by a developer independent of CyanogenMod, and download links have been provided for your convenience. It is possible to perform a "backup" of the Google Apps on your device and then "restore" them, but this does take additional steps which are not covered here.

The Google Apps packages are NOT SUPPORTED in any way by Cyanogenmod. Contents

The packages below are for CyanogenMod 7 and above (or compatible Android builds based upon the same AOSP versions). These packages are DPI and architecture-independent, so you only need to match your OS version. In addition, only apps which are required to provide the basic Google frameworks are supplied to reduce the download size. The Google Applications packages should be installed via recovery. Exact steps vary, but the general process is the same as that used to install CyanogenMod, or any other flashable zip:

Copy the gapps .zip-file to /sdcard/
Using adb: adb push filename.zip /sdcard/
Reboot your device to recovery via any one of these methods: 1) using the power-on key combo for your device; 2) running adb reboot recovery from your computer; 3) or via the Advanced Reboot power menu (enabled in Developer Options).
Choose "install zip" from within recovery, and navigate to the zip-file loaded earlier.
Reboot from recovery back to Android.

Troubleshooting

Google Apps packages are not generally supported by the CyanogenMod team, or by their distributors. The good news is that there is very little that can go wrong! If you are experiencing problems, try the following, in order, until everything works:

   Reboot your device
Verify all apps are up-to-date in the Play Store
Re-flash the Gapps package (via recovery)
Wipe the /system partition and reinstall both CyanogenMod and Gapps (as long as if you don't wipe /data, your data will be preserved)
Wipe /system, /data and /cache and reinstall both CyanogenMod and Gapps (this will delete all of your data, i.e. lik e you're starting from a clean slate)

Legacy Releases

Older versions of Android(pre-2.3) did not have a Universal Gapps package, so separate packages are provided for various DPI levels and architectures. Google Apps Backup Google Applications for Android

These packages contain a backup of the Google Applications distributed with the Android OS. You can flash these using a compatible Android Recovery(eg, ClockworkMod). They should serve as an adequate replacement if you have lost your copy of them from installing a custom OS, such as CyanogenMod.

Please consider using a Torrent instead of a direct download. There is more available bandwidth(for a faster download) in the swarm and it places less stress upon the It Vends servers. Hotlinking has been disabled, please email support if you would like to be added to the whitelist or can contribute to the It Vends network.

We do NOT maintain availability of "old" Gapps packages - only the latest will be available here. For updates on new releases follow us on G+. It is recommended that you link directly to this page to prevent your users from seeing a 404 or a hotlinking message.
