16.1. Stateless auto-configuration

Is supported and seen on the assigned link-local address after an IPv6-enabled interface is up.

Example:

  1. ip -6 addr show dev eth0 scope link

2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qlen1000 

   inet6 fe80::211:d8ff:fe6b:f0f5/64 scope link
      valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
